Wide brimmed

By : haley 13 Comments

This shoot got a little awkward because we got kicked out of our original location. The lady proceeded to stare us down for the rest of the shoot—so excuse my enthusiasm. Nearby was this beautiful ivy covered walkway. I’ve been searching for a hat with a wider brim with a more flow-y look to it. This one, from Ruche does just the trick! I normally never wear this skirt because I feel it’s too tight and club-ish. When you pair it with a chunky knit, it suddenly becomes relaxed and laid back. If you’re going to pair a sweater with a tighter skirt, try a tapered knit (long in back shorter in front). Thanks for reading *toodles*

Hat: Ruche // skirt: Nordstrom (old–similar here) // sweater: H&M // booties: Target // necklace: Forever21 (old–similar here) // clutch: Gypsy Mobile Boutique

  1. Hi!
Thank you so much for your comment:o)
I really like your combination and you are totally right about the skirt. It’s goes perfect combined with this knit.

  2. I love how you pared color on this outfit! And the hat is PERFECT 😉

  3. Ooooh I love that sweater and necklace. The outfit all over is gorgeous, but those two pieces are just serious standouts for me.

I love when people do that. By love, of course, I mean ‘hate’. Especially when they just. keep. staring at you. It makes me want even more to go back to the original spot, haha.

  4. I love this whole combo! Very cute!

  5. Having people around when we’re shooting is DEFINITELY something we’re getting used to.. slowly. It just feels so uncomfortable! Such is the life of a blogger, I guess.

I love this look also – that sweater looks like heaven. That hat is wonderful too. I love hats but I struggle to justify wearing them, as I’m inside most of the day!

  8. I love love love this outfit! I have a big brimmed oxford blood color hat like this! But I love how you styled the hat with a cozy over sized knit and pencil skirt!

I may have to copy this look 😉

  9. I have some serious hat-envy (if that’s even a thing) right now. Your outfit is awesome, but that hat totally rocks!

I really love your sense of style. I’m glad you commented on my blog, since now I’m following yours!

  12. Thanks for the tip! I will try that with those mini skirts that just seem weird to wear in the daytime. 🙂 I love your hat too! I have a hard time finding ones that fit because…I have a big head. LOL
