Pretty in Palms
Ok, I’ve been really excited to share this story with you guys! Julia and myself had about 20 minutes left in our morning to shoot to find a good location. The first one didn’t work out, so we were racing around town looking for a legit spot. (e.i. plants, white, great architecture)

Suddenly, I notice this giant cacti as I was driving by so I text her to stop (she’s in a different car). We race up to what I think might be one of the most interesting houses in midtown. Think exposed brick, scalloped siding, plaster, raised base, rad fence, plant heaven. We notice the owners are in the front yard so we run around the back and start snapping away.
Then we’re about to leave and we see this ridiculously large bird of paradise plant! So round 2 starts we feel like we’re shooting some vogue ad. All the feels, I repeat a l l the feels.
Then from around the corner of the house, we hear…”hello…?” Julia and I get on our oh sh** faces like we’re about to be kicked out. It turns out to be this really older nice man with round thick rimmed spectacles. We explained how we were admiring his garden. He gave us the history on his plants and the house. We get to chatting and it turns out were both graphic designers! He studied at the school of design in Rhode Island! Also, he is a co-god parent with my old my boss?!
He tells us he has to get back to a cat funeral they’re having in the front yard. What?! I thought about him often over the next week and have been considering going to chat with about mentoring me?
For now, let’s just admire his plants and bask in how lovely random encounters can be.
