I grew up collecting magazines and beauty product packaging. I didn’t know what I was doing at the time, I just knew I loved the inside spread of the J.Crew magazine. I decided to frame it and put on the wall in my 12 yr old bedroom. Friends would tell me you’re not suppose to hang magazines, you need to put photos on the wall of my friends but I didn’t like photos I had.
I couldn’t explain it. The photos I had just weren’t telling like a story. They didn’t have the aesthetic quality these glossies did. Something about the exotic locations, intricate clothing paired with sleek typography had me weak at the knees.
This outfit transports me to those times in my life when I would go to bed gazing at an silly framed magazine across my from the foot of my bed. Dreaming of life that would reflect one of these photogenic scenes.
We don’t often know that those things we do as children as hundred percent, tied to our true callings. Fashion and design were in my heart as a child and stay with me today.
If you’re feeling lost in finding where your passions lie, look to your childhood, what were you naturally drawn to?
