Summer Blazers

If you followed this blog for awhile, you know I’m a sucker for a fitted blazer. With summer hitting its tail end, I wanted to show a few ways to wear 2 blazers from Banana Republic. I don’t work in an office anymore, but I’m not above a blazer! For look 01 I wanted to show a laid back way to style the piece. I opted for a wide brimmed hat, lace up sandal and lace camisole. I think the clutch brings in a business casual vibe, you could store your iPad, notebook and phone all in one place. Who says you have to wear blazers with a skirt, loafers and a button up?!

I picked these two blazers because they do not have a traditional collar. I like the sleek line it creates from neck to shoulder. The cut makes your upper body look elongated rather than bulky. Anyone with a petite upper frame knows how much of a blessing this is!

These cropped pants help give a laid back feel too. I always like pushing the envelope with work wear because it can get bland very quickly. Especially when you feel confined to wear something of similar nature, 40 hours a week , 50 weeks of the year.

Alright, onto Look 02!

When putting this outfit together, I had to craft something around a chambray blue style blazer. I picked a light blue plunging neckline to contrast the full coverage blazer and pants. I would normally imagine this outfit with black or khaki pants. To throw a wrench in the mix, I thought using green for the pants would create a less expected look.

For both looks I thought a hat would add an interesting vibe. Why don’t we wear more hats? I always felt weird wearing a hat to work. I think rocking a wide brim hat is great for a rainy morning when you don’t want to lug around an umbrella. So, can we start a work wear hat trend please?!

The stand collar works well with v-necks, scoop or turtlenecks tops. Generally, I don’t prefer to wear blazers with collars shirts, as it gets to be a bit bunchy. My other tip would be to wear a higher waisted fitting bottom, this really helps even out of the proportions for a non-cropped blazer.

Which look do you like best?

    J. Crew and Banana Republic are essentials, to me; and I love their reasonable price point especially for the quality.

I love your chic and effortless styling of these outfits. Cheers!
