Exploring the Antique Fair
I love heading to the antique fair in Sacramento. It was a perfect overcast day underneath the freeway. During this month’s trip we hunted down vintage rings and beautiful amethyst rocks. The event felt a bit more stylish this time around because I was with my two sidekicks Vanessa and Jaclyn. It’s fun exploring with others because they help bring to light items you might have glazed over. dress: thrifted (similar, similar, similar) // blazer: thrifted (similar) // tote: West Elm (still available!) // Sneakers: New Balance 565’s Being annoying bloggers with our cameras haha the lady behind the mirror was not pleased with us haha. Tip #1: Wear comfy shoes! I’ve actually made it my mission this season to prove sports sneakers are NO longer considered “atrocious” to wear outside of the gym. Try pairing your favorite girlie dress with some sporty sneakers–the new balance 565’s have been a favorite this season! When the shoe comes in a fun color–it looks intentional rather than “I couldn’t figure out what shoes to wear”. Although, my boss did call them barney shoes. *sad face* Tip #2: Remember to bring a big tote when you’re exploring a craft fair, flea market or garage sale. You never know what goodies you’ll find and need to carry with you throughout the day! Tip #3: Keep an open mind. We came in search of mid-century modern side tables but left with vintage rings, t-shirts and rocks! Sometime if you’re too focus on one thing you’ll miss out on some hidden treasures! Tip #4: Arrive early! If you want to get the unique pieces before they’re snagged up, you’ve got to wake up early and get there before the crowds arrive. And believe me, the older crowd is very serious about their antiquing! It’s a sport you know! 😉 This comical “totes ma goats” bag was a Christmas gift from mi madre. Even got a compliment for a women in her 70’s—I guess this “totes” craze is wider spread than I thought! Have a week folks!
